Louise & Steven {Preview}

My beautiful best friend Louise married someone completely perfect for her, Steven, last Tuesday in sunny Arpino, Italy. To see them both so happy and knowing what a wonderful future they have in front of them made it even more special, and the next day my face ached from smiling and laughing so much.

WHAT A DAY. Completely ‘them’, elegant, fun, booze flowing, music playing (including a song written for them by musical maestro Paige Temperley), some serious shapes being thrown in the evening, the biggest wedding cake you’ve ever seen and a completely joyous atmosphere from start to finish. I’ve seen Louise looking pretty damn gorgeous in the 14 years I’ve known her but on the day she just glowed.. completely radiant. Steven, you looked pretty damn handsome too – tailor-made suit issues and new glasses aside – I know you’ll make a wonderful husband to our gorgeous Louise Caster Sugar.

Hollie & Davide | Preview

Hollie came to chat at a wedding fair I did early last year.. and I remember thinking she was just an absolute doll. Plus she happy-danced when I said I was free for her wedding to Davide.. so I obviously loved her even more.

There is so much to say about their amazing day.. it was styled to perfection and full of personal touches and lovingly handmade bits and pieces.. the Italian spread was out of this world.. some seriously good disco dancing went down.. I drove away to the sound of music and celebration with a huge grin on my face from ear to ear.

Elora & Bobby | Preview

Elora and Bobby got in touch a month or so ago and said they were planning a day that was sure to be full of colour, celebration and chaos.. everything a wedding should be. I’ve wanted to shoot an Asian wedding for such a long time and I jumped at the chance to be part of their day. I was there with bells on and it was bloody amazing. Elora and Bobby had a hindu ceremony together with Elora’s brother Neil and his wife Vic, who married in France last year. There was music, dancing, colour, hundreds of celebrating guests, belly dancing, Bobby playing the drums in his band and some pretty wild dancing to finish the night. Vivienne | Portrait Project, Personal Work

I’ve wanted to embark upon some sort of personal project for a while.. I attempted a 365 Project at the beginning of the year, but during busy periods I found myself forgetting and not really giving it enough time or thought to make it worthwhile.. I’ve also wanted to get into portrait photography more and experimented a little with one-on-one photography last year when I shot my lovely friend Elizabeth. I love Q&As.. and love the Guardian Magazine Q&A each Saturday.. so thought I’d put a little portrait and question project together which I can shoot and blog as regularly or sporadically as I wish/have time for.

I decided to begin with my nearest and dearest.. and even wondered if I’d learn a few things about those I love most along the way. My favourite number is seven (I’m a bit of a number geek..) so there are going to be seven questions and seven frames per ‘portrait’. And who better to kick off the project than my own little girl, Vivienne.

What would be your perfect day?

Evelyn would come round to my house, we would go to the park with my bike and my scooter and my roller-skates then go swimming. Then we’d come home and paint something and then go to the cinema and then make a robot. We’d have fish finger sandwiches for tea.

What is your earliest memory?

Baby food all over my face.

What is your greatest fear?

Spooky cats and spooky dogs.

What is your most treasured possession?

My books, the big books with lots of stories in the same book. They are really special.

What is your pet peeve?

People who drop rubbish.

What, if anything, worries you about the future?

Nothing.

What single thing would improve your life?

Going to the cinema.
