Retro Love.. A shoot.

When Katy of What Katy Did Next got in touch to see if I’d be interested in doing a retro shoot for Thimble & Bobbin’s homewares range I don’t think I even hesitated. Katy’s wonderful styling has been the driving force behind all out past shoots, and I knew she’d do a sterling job organising another shoot for Lauren’s gorgeously crafted bits and bobs.

Here is a sneak peek from the day…. Hope you liiiiike!

Contemporary Kiltz

Today I was asked to take photographs for a second shoot with Contemporary Kiltz, I was thrilled to be part of it. Clare has been making ‘kiltz’ for years, and really has a unique product in that they are made with the best quality traditional tartan, but has put a spin on the design adding a modern waistband and showing how they can be dressed up with everything from denim jackets to Aran knits.

We all met up at a family friend’s house in the village I grew up in (you could very nearly see my parents’ house from the garden) and I was gobsmacked at just how amazing a location it was! I had complete house envy, especially when I spotted so much amazing original artwork covering the walls and a fully stocked bar in the billiard room! We made good use of the space as best we could, later taking a few shots to send off to an agency for location shooting. I turned down a bowl of soup and homemade bread to later find out that the family owned a catering business who have worked for gigs from T in the Park to Jay Z to Elton John.. Doh!

Here is a small preview, and big thanks to Clare & Gillian for having me again!

A Walk in the Woods…

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to just forget about everything and ‘head for the hills’ more often, and on one bright cold Sunday we decided to throw work to one side, went to see my Grandpa, for a pub lunch and went for a little walk behind the house I lived in up to the age of 4, deep in North Yorkshire.

We couldn’t walk too far (Vivi only has little legs and they get tired easily!), so we went to the slate hills at the top of the path where there are millions of rabbit warrens, and we looked for Peter Rabbit and the Flopsy Bunnies. Here are a few pics from the day, my little family and I loved it, and we’ll definitely be doing it again when we can!

PS. The one of me and V is taken by David (obviously!) ignore my messy hair.. it was Sunday after all!

Dawn & Fraser (Favourites)

Dawn and Fraser decided to have a very English wedding.. with a tigers and tartan theme! The ceremony and reception were held at Danby Castle, which is an absolutely stunning venue with view of the best of North Yorkshire, and although it rained all day (apart from about half an hour for photographs!) the atmosphere of the day really made it special. Here are a few favourites from their day, I loved all the little details including mismatched crockery for centrepieces, bunting, tigers and the fact that Dawn and her bridesmaids arrived by tractor!
