Fighter Pilot..

One snippet of news I can share is that I’ve been asked to photograph the making of a short film by Eboracum at the end of March. Andrew & Meri, whose wedding I photographed at the end of last year, have asked if I’d like to get involved, and that they’d be constructing a 1950s film set FROM SCRATCH in Goathland near Whitby. They didn’t need to ask me twice…….

The film is called Fighter Pilot, and in Andrew’s own words:

“Fighter Pilot is a short drama set in the late 1950’s in England and centres around the spiritual act of past life regression*. 12-year old Tommy is the subject of a regression, at the request of his concerned parents, after recently speaking in detail about the war and, in particular, piloting and the Spitfire.

Gathering in the living room to witness the regression, the family are taken on an emotional and shocking adventure by young Tommy.

*Past life regression is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations. Essentially, the belief that a soul of a person lives on after death and is reincarnated into another body.”

The set so far..

You can find out more about the film here, and the project is also asking for funding if you have a spare few bob, Andrew has even offered incentives for the contributions of different amounts, so if you’re a fan of independent cinema or want to support up and coming talent in the area please see what you can do here.

I love photographing weddings, but I am SO excited to get stuck into a different kind of project, and to work with film-makers and other creatives.

Big thanks to Andrew & Meri for asking me to be part of it, I can’t wait!

New Camera!

Just a little indulgent post to thrive over my new camera! I’m going to get out over the weekend and play about with it properly, but for now I’m happy running around the house experimenting with the controls (I’ve always been on Nikon, this is my first Canon) and taking a few snaps. Here are a few first pics, Viv was being my model as usual as well as taking pics of the junk/decoration around the house (piece of trivia: that is Liam Gallagher’s tambourine in the second photo).

Also I daren’t say too much yet, but I has a few very exciting pieces of news to share, hopefully by the end of the week, and I’ve literally be dancing around for the past few days. One includes a 1950s film set, one includes travel and one is a project of my very own….. EEK!

Down the Rabbit Hole… {Preview}

On Sunday I packed the car up, cleaned it out ready for dresses, cakes and paraphernalia ready for a shoot inspired by Alice in Wonderland, styled by Katy, owner of the magic fingers that work for What Katy Did Next, and Lynsey, owner of new company The Whistling Bunting.

Bright and early I set off to pick up Katy, we packed the car and happily made our way up to the cottages we’d been allowed to shoot in for the day….. However, my little car had other ideas and very sadly broke down for the very last time about half way there!

Around an hour later Lynsey and her husband Matthew came to rescue us, and we made our way up to where the models were already being made up, and miraculously managed to get through the outfit changes and ideas that we’d had just in time for the light disappearing and everyone having to make their way home.

Here is a sneak peek of what’s to come… and I’ll preview more in a few days..
