A Walk in the Woods…

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to just forget about everything and ‘head for the hills’ more often, and on one bright cold Sunday we decided to throw work to one side, went to see my Grandpa, for a pub lunch and went for a little walk behind the house I lived in up to the age of 4, deep in North Yorkshire.

We couldn’t walk too far (Vivi only has little legs and they get tired easily!), so we went to the slate hills at the top of the path where there are millions of rabbit warrens, and we looked for Peter Rabbit and the Flopsy Bunnies. Here are a few pics from the day, my little family and I loved it, and we’ll definitely be doing it again when we can!

PS. The one of me and V is taken by David (obviously!) ignore my messy hair.. it was Sunday after all!

A few sneak peeks..

I’ve been a bad blogger recently, I’ve jumped in the deep end this January and it’s all so busy! Saying that I did have an amazing weekend away for a friend’s birthday so it’s not been all work, and now I feel a tad behind! To keep me going and to push me to do a proper post this week here are a few sneak photos from what I want to blog soon. It’s my New Year’s resolution to blog more and to take more personal photography so that what these posts will be 🙂

PS… I bought my new camera yesterday, eeeek!

Happy New Year & my 2012 Pricing

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I’m so excited for 2012 to kick in, the weddings I’m going to be working at get me so excited (and hopefully a few more will let me be part of their day.. :p ) and for whatever else the coming months may bring. Fingers crossed I’ll be finishing my MA and graduating at the end of the year, David will be starting his, and we may even be moving house (4th time in 3 years, I know, we must be mental), depending on circumstances.

Something I’ve unavoidably had to give a lot of thought to is my pricing. I have kept my prices as low as possible since I began over a year ago, mainly to build up my portfolio and experience; and now feel I know my niche, target market and the direction I want my photography to go in. I finally feel ready to take my humble little business to where I want it to go.

After breaking down my own expenses, including how long I spend taking the pictures and the time it takes to process them, I have reluctantly decided to overhaul my pricing and packages available.

So here goes..

Weddings

I will no longer be doing half day wedding coverage, only full day. Full day coverage will cover what it always did; capturing the day between bridal preparations and disco dancing (usually around 8 hours). You will still receive all finished photographs (at least 150) on disk with permission to print from and share, and I will still provide albums and prints as add-ons to the existing package. I will be compiling a ‘Supplier Love’ list within a welcome pack with my personal recommendations and favourites of all the suppliers I have worked with and admired since I began. My new full-day package will be £695 (including travel within 50 miles).

I know I have bookings in for next year already, and obviously won’t be altering anything for brides and grooms who have already booked.

If your wedding is abroad or further afield I will be more than willing to negotiate, so don’t discount me for being based ‘up North’!

Couple and Family Shoots

The shoots will be conducted in the same way as they always have, an hour or so in a location of your choice; getting some pictures of you and your beloved, your kiddy-winks, babies, families, etc etc, and receiving a disk of images (at least 50) with permission to print and share. I will still provide add-ons as I always have. The new pricing for these shoots will be £65.

Commercial Shoots

This type of work will have to be discussed first, I’ve done commercial shoots from 2 hours long to 6-7, so it really depends on what is required. Please get in touch to discuss. As with every type of work I do, you would receive a disk of all images with permission to print and share.

Add-ons

Film camera package – £50

{For the film package I will also capture your day using instant, lomography and 35mm film cameras as well as on digital, you should receive at least 40 prints from this add-on. Get in touch for more details.}

Classic Linen-cover Album (12″x12″) – £130

Parent Album (8″x10″) – £75

Canvas & Print prices on request

An happy end to 2011.. And a January Offer..

Another very little post (it is meant to be the holidays after all..) to wish you all the very best for 2012!

I feel so fortunate to have had such a great 2011, writing it down I can’t believe how much has gone on:

  • Dav and I got married! After 5 years together we had the best day we could have ever hoped for; family, friends, good food, good drink, good music.. and the weather was on our side!
  • Vivienne turned two, and is, what my niece Evelyn calls her, a ‘little-big girl’!
  • We were lucky enough to gain two more nieces and a nephew, Beatrice, Jemima and Sebastian.
  • I finished my Art degree, and David finished his second year doing Sports Science..
  • ..and I started my MA in Journalism
  • A few little trips away, me to Amsterdam and Paris, David to Berlin, and a few weekends away in the Lakes and London
  • And finally, my little business seems to be moving along well! I never thought I’d be lucky enough to meet as many amazing people as I did this year, and attended some gorgeous weddings; and feel amazed to have secured a dozen or so for next year already.. a huge thank you to everyone out there!

Have you all made your resolutions? I started jotting a few down and before I knew it I had a page full! 2012 is definitely my year for staying calm, being more organised and efficient, and taking some real time out for family & friends.

And as a little treat to kick-start the New Year, I’m running a little offer through Love My Dress (click here to see), meaning you can save 10% from my 2012 wedding package if you book in January quoting ‘Love My Dress’. (Extensive new pricing details to follow tomorrow)

Anyway, all the best for the New Year, I hope you all have a lovely night tonight, whether it’s curling up on the sofa or partying ‘out out’.

Love,

Sally x
