The Lakes

I’m really not a fan of landscape photography (she says.. hitting publish on a post full of landscape photographs..) which is why I wanted to push myself to try and enjoy them. I’ve always found them uninteresting or trying to emulate a specific style (there are a lot of Joe Cornish wannabes in my area..),  I’ve also seen too many which have been over-edited and dramatised and just… not to my taste at all.

I wanted to try doing them as part of a promise this year to push myself out of my comfort zone. It was strange, I’d  call myself more of a ‘people photographer’, and I kept wanting someone to step into the frame and instead I was working with the landscape and nothing else.

Here are the results.. I’d try it again in the future but don’t think it’s completely for me.. then again I do love twilight and a good sunset.

Blackpool

Last week we decided to break away from the noise and distractions of home and planned ourselves a mini 3-day road trip away.. Even though the car broke down slap-bang in the middle of a double wedding weekend we managed to get over to Liverpool (you can see more here), Blackpool and the Lakes (to be blogged soon) for a little R’n’R.

Blackpool wasn’t Dav’s cup of tea.. Vivienne adored it.. and I loved taking pictures of all the colour. There’s something deliciously garish about British seaside resorts, and I particularly loved the arcades, battered signage and fairground rides we came across during our day there.. Here is Blackpool in all it’s glory..

Stonehouse Street.. {Personal Project}

I’ve always had a fascination with the old, the industrial.. peeling facades, rust and old hand-painted signage. Near us are a few back streets making up a small industrial estate and I’ve always wanted to take my camera (even though D told me to watch out as is attracts ‘interesting’ characters..) I also quite fancied posting it as my last bit of personal work before my wedding season really kicks in a week on Saturday (SO EXCITED Greg and Kelly!) and my blog will be filled with much ‘prettier’ offerings than today’s post in coming weeks..

Anyway, here are a few from a little visit there a few weeks back..
